Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare and Mercy Health, based in St. Louis., have signed an asset purchase agreement to merge two hospitals in Hot Springs, Ark.
Under the deal, Capella-owned National Park Medical Center and Mercy Health's Mercy Hospital and Mercy Clinic in Hot Springs, formerly St. Joseph's Mercy Health System, will merge under Capella's ownership.
The proposed affiliation was announced in April. The organizations have already begun pursuing required regulatory approvals, including approval from the Vatican required by Mercy's relationship to the Catholic Church. This final phase is expected to take 60 to 90 days, subject to regulatory and Vatican approval.
