Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health has completed its merger with Bon Secours Health System in Dublin, Ireland's largest private healthcare provider, a spokesperson confirmed to Becker's.
The merger expands Bon Secours Mercy Health's footprint. The system is now in seven U.S. states — Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Ohio, South Carolina and Virginia — as well as Ireland.
Bill Maher, who was Bon Secours Health System's CEO, was named president of the Irish market and reports to COO Brian Smith, said Maureen Richmond, vice president of integrated communications at Bon Secours Mercy Health.
Together, the health systems have 60,000 employees serving more than 10.5 million people through nearly 50 hospitals, more than 50 home health agencies and senior health and housing facilities.
Bon Secours Mercy Health signed a letter of intent to merge with Bon Secours Health System in April.
