The following hospital mergers and acquisitions took place within the past week, beginning with the most recent.

1. Prime Healthcare Acquires Pampa Regional Medical Center in Texas
Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare acquired Pampa (Texas) Regional Medical Center from Signature Hospital Corp. in Houston.

2. Connecticut AG Approves Yale-New Haven, Hospital of Saint Raphael Merger
After completing the required antitrust investigation, Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen announced he will not block the proposed merger between Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital and Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven.

3. ProMedica to Acquire Memorial Hospital
Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica announced it signed an agreement with Memorial Hospital in Fremont, Ohio, to establish a long-term relationship with the intent of Memorial Hospital becoming a member of ProMedica.

4. Carondelet Health Looks for Partner in Kansas City

Two-hospital Carondelet Health considered a merger or acquisition by another health system or hospital in the Kansas City, Mo.-area.

5. Capella, Muskogee Community Hospital Sign Definitive Lease Agreement
Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare announced it has signed a definitive agreement to lease 45-bed, physician-owned Muskogee (Okla.) Community Hospital.

6. Lawrence & Memorial Hospital Submits $69M Bid for Westerly Hospital
Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn., submitted a $69 million bid to purchase Westerly (R.I.) Hospital.

7. University Hospital to be Unaffected by NJ Higher Education Reorganization
Denise Rodgers, interim president of Newark-based University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, announced that Newark-based University Hospital will remain a part of UMDNJ regardless of the New Jersey's higher education reorganization or the hospital's potential affiliation.

8. Rhode Island Attorney General Approves Steward, Landmark Medical Merger
Attorney General Peter Kilmartin approved the sale of Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, R.I., to Boston-based Steward Health Care System.
