Heritage Valley Health System, a two-hospital system in Beaver, Pa., announced its intent to affiliate with Kennedy Township, Pa.-based Ohio Valley Hospital May 14.
Here are four things to know about the affiliation.
1. The boards of both organizations signed a letter of intent to affiliate and have entered a period of due diligence to work toward signing a definitive agreement.
2. Officials expect to finalize the definitive agreement in fall 2018.
3. Ohio Valley Hospital's board of directors has been searching for a potential affiliate or partner for the past eight months.
4. Through the proposed affiliation, Ohio Valley Hospital will have the opportunity to enhance its medical staff and expand its clinical services.
