1. Board, Unnamed Buyer Near Formal Agreement for Sale of Natchez Regional Medical Center
An Adams County board voted to file a letter of intent with a potential buyer for Natchez (Miss.) Regional Medical Center.
2. Private Development Group Wins Long Island College Hospital Bid
Brooklyn Health Partners Development Group won the bid to operate the State University of New York's Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.
3. Mayor Calls for Merger of Summa, Akron General
In his state of the city address, Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic said the two main hospital organizations in Akron — Akron General Medical Center and Summa Health System — should merge operations.
4. Final Order: HCA to Divest 2 London Hospitals
The United Kingdom's Competition and Markets Authority officially ordered Hospital Corporation of America to sell two of its hospitals — London Bridge Hospital and The Princess Grace Hospital, both located in the heart of London — following of the release of a report based on a two-year investigation.
5. Consultant: Louisiana Children's, Ochsner Can't Afford to Lease Jefferson Parish Hospitals
Neither Louisiana Children's Medical Center nor Ochsner Health System, both based in New Orleans, have the financial strength to lease both West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, La., and East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, La., a Jefferson Parish consultant concluded.
6. Passavant Area Hospital Joins Memorial Health System
Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill., officially became Springfield, Ill.-based Memorial Health System's fourth hospital.
7. CHS Completes Sharon Regional, Munroe Hospital Deals
Community Health Systems, based in Franklin, Tenn., completed two separate hospital transactions: Sharon (Pa.) Regional Health System and Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla.
8. Catholic Health Initiatives Completes Mercy Hot Springs Acquisition
Mercy Hospital Hot Springs (Ark.) is officially part of Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives, as CHI and Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy signed a definitive acquisition agreement.
9. California Company to Purchase Bankrupt Fairmont General Hospital
Fairmont (W.Va.) General Hospital's board of directors chose Alecto Healthcare Services, a private firm based in Los Angeles, as its initial buyer
10. Mercy Health, McCullough-Hyde Memorial Call Off Affiliation
McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio, and Cincinnati-based Mercy Health decided to end exclusive affiliation negotiations.
11. UC Davis Medical Center, Dameron Hospital Call Off Joint Venture
UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento and the nonprofit Dameron Hospital Association in Stockton, Calif., announced they will not move forward with plans to pursue a joint venture.
12. Community Medical Center to Partner With Billings Clinic, RegionalCare Hospital Partners
Community Medical Center in Missoula, Mont., decided to partner with Billings Clinic RegionalCare LLC, a joint venture between Billings (Mont.) Clinic and RegionalCare Hospital Partners, based in Brentwood, Tenn.
13. Salem Health, OHSU Negotiating Affiliation
Salem (Ore.) Health chose to affiliate with Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.
