Ohio Attorney General Says CHS Has Shown Interest in Acquiring Forum Health

Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray said Nashville-based Community Health Systems has shown interest in acquiring Youngstown, Ohio-based Forum Health, but has yet to submit a proposal for the purchase, according to a report by the Tribune Chronicle.

The health system is scheduled to be sold to Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health Services on Aug. 5 for $69.8 million, unless any other bidders come forward. If others do present themselves, the health system will go up for auction.

The sale is subject to approval by the state Attorney General's office, which is expected to make a decision on the Ardent deal in two weeks, according to the report.

Three-hospital Forum filed for bankruptcy in March 2009.
