Beaufort County (N.C.) commissioners have approved the lease and potential sale of Beaufort County Medical Center to University Health Systems, based in Greenville, N.C., according to a WITN report.
BCMC employees have been told, via email, to expect the deal to go into effect by Sept. 1.
BCMC has already had ties with UHS. Last June, the hospital's board of trustees voted to allow UHS to manage daily operations until it found an operator for a merger.
