Beaufort Regional Health System in Washington, N.C., is finalizing a request for proposal for a merger partner, according to a report by the Washington Daily News.
The RFP is currently being reviewed by the health system board and, once completed, will be sent to 10 groups that have indicated interest in serving as a partner for the hospital. The RFP asks potential partners to provide details for a possible 20-year lease agreement, but also encourages partners to provide more "creative" proposals, according to the report.
The health system is facing financial difficulties and is looking for a partner that can provide at least $14.2 in capital for future construction projects. The RFP also asks potential partners to develop new services for the health system and introduce a physician recruitment plan, according to the report.
The health system has been struggling financially for some time.
