Massachusetts' Beth Israel and Milton Hospital Plan to Merge by October

Milton (Mass.) Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston have announced plans to merge in six months, according to a Boston Globe report.

The 631-bed BIDMC and 81-bed Milton have shared a business relationship for eight years and were already clinical affiliates. The larger hospital will oversee Milton's operations and finances. Milton will keep control of strategic planning and its own board of trustees, which already includes members from BIDMC.
