Hartford, Conn.-based Saint Francis Care and Johnson Memorial Medical Center in Stafford Springs, Conn., have signed an exclusive agreement to explore an affiliation, according to a joint news release.
The two parties hope the proposed affiliation will maintain the inpatient hospital presence in north central Connecticut, enhance physician recruitment and retention, expand services and lead to new capital projects, the release said.
According to a Hartford Business report, Johnson Memorial emerged from bankruptcy in October 2010 and was looking for a partner to help gain greater access to capital for health IT investments and other hospital infrastructure projects.
