1. Illinois' Delnor and Central DuPage Health Sign Agreement to Merge
Geneva, Ill.-based Delnor Health System and Winfield, Ill.-based Central DuPage Health signed a definitive agreement to merge.
2. Kansas' Wesley Medical Center Buys Physician-Owned Heart Hospital
Wesley Medical Center, a Hospital Corporation of America facility in Wichita, Kan., entered into an agreement to buy the physician-owned Galichia Heart Hospital, also in Wichita.
3. Scott & White to Manage Llano County Hospital and Clinics in Texas
The commissioners' court of Llano County, Texas, decided to pursue the transfer of Llano County Hospital Authority to Temple, Texas-based Scott & White Healthcare.
4. Minnesota's HealthPartners and Lakeview Health System Plan Affiliation
Bloomington, Minn.-based HealthPartners signed a letter of intent to affiliate with Lakeview Health System in Stillwater, Minn., which owns a hospital and multispeciality practice.
5. West Virginia United Health Merger Delayed Over Insurer's Antitrust Concerns
The merger of St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va., and Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, also in Parkersburg, with Fairmont, W.Va.-based West Virginia United Health System has been delayed over antitrust concerns voiced by insurer The Health Plan of the Upper Ohio Valley.
6. Wisconsin's Agnesian HealthCare, Ripon Medical Center to Discuss Affiliation
Fond du Lac, Wis.-based Agnesian HealthCare and Ripon (Wis.) Medical Center will begin discussions around a possible formal affiliation.
7. Vermont's Fletcher Allen, Central Vermont Medical Center Consider Affiliation
Burlington, Vt.-based Fletcher Allen Health Care and Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, Vt., are considering an affiliation.
8. Vanguard to Acquire Chicago's Holy Cross Hospital
Nashville-based, for-profit Vanguard Health Systems will purchase Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago, allowing the Catholic hospital to retain its religious identity.
9. Michigan's Bronson Healthcare to Acquire Majority Stake in Battle Creek Health System
Kalamazoo-based Bronson Healthcare Group, which operates Bronson Methodist Hospital, signed a letter of intent to acquire a 51 percent interest in Battle Creek (Mich.) Health System.
10. Pennsylvania's Mercy Health System Delays Decision on Buyer
Scranton, Pa.-based Mercy Health System will delay its decision on who will buy the health system until after Jan. 1.
11. Illinois' Loyola University Health Seeks Catholic Partner
Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola University Health System confirmed that it will consider a partnership with other Catholic health systems.
12. Caritas Christi Parent Asks State for Approval to Acquire Two Hospitals for $21M
Steward Health Care System, the for-profit parent company of Boston-based Caritas Christi Health Care, filed an application with the Massachusetts Department of Health to acquire two community hospitals for $21 million.
13. Avera Health to Purchase City-Owned Hospital in Nebraska
Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avera Health will pay $5.5 million for a hospital owned by the city of Creighton, Neb., effective Feb. 1.
14. Merger of University of Arizona Hospitals, Medical School Expected Within Six Months
The merger of University Physicians Hospital, University Medical Center and the University of Arizona College of Medicine is expected to be complete within six months.
