Publisher's Letter October 2014

October Issue; CEO Strategy Roundtable

October issue. The October issue of Becker’s Hospital Review includes the 2014 edition of “100 Hospitals and Health Systems With Great On- cology Programs,” a list that highlights hospitals leading the way in terms of quality patient care, cancer outcomes and research. We are pleased to share them with you.

The issue also contains feature stories built around innovation, including “3 Things the Most Innovative Health Systems Do” and a column from Editor in Chief Lindsey Dunn about the les- sons healthcare can take away from the success of Uber, a company that has disrupted the tradition- al taxi cab business model. The issue also features a roundtable discussion with four health system CEOs from around the country, in which they de- scribe their top challenges, accomplishments and ideas for innovation.

In the October issue, you’ll also find stories about hospitals’ charity care under the healthcare reform law, the top healthcare investment niches today, Maryland’s approach to controlling healthcare costs and lessons from startup companies in digital health. We are also pleased to share our list of 25 healthcare leaders under the age of 40 — men and women you will be well-served to take note of, as they are poised for further success down the line.

CIO and CEO Strategy Roundtable. Becker’s Hospital Review is hosting its Annual CIO Round- table Tues., Nov. 4th and its Annual CEO Strat- egy Roundtable Wed., Nov. 5th in Chicago. More than 17 CIO speakers and 40 leading hospital and health system CEOs will speak at the events, which will be held at the Ritz-Carlton, located just off of Michigan Avenue.
