UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco has signed a letter of intent to form an integrated system with Pacific Partners Management Services and San Mateo, Calif.-based Individual Practice Association Medical Group of Santa Clara County, according to a San Francisco Business Times report.
According to the report, the three groups signed the letter in March but did not make the news public until this week. They plan to finalize the deal in the next two months.
The groups wanted to affiliate "to answer society's call for more integrated models of care," Jay Harris, chief strategy and business development officer at UCSF Medical Center, told the San Francisco Business Times.
The medical group, known as SCCIPA, has 803 physicians and is the largest individual practice association in Santa Clara County, according to the report.
