St. Rose Dominican Hospitals, a system with locations in Las Vegas and Henderson, Nev., is ending its contract with Emergency Medicine Physicians, the medical group that staffs its hospitals' emergency departments, effective July 15, according to a Las Vegas Sun report.
The medical group has been under scrutiny recently for its patient-transfer policies. Emergency Medicine Physicians has been criticized for transferring patients for financial reasons, according to the Las Vegas Sun, and state regulators recently interviewed ER staff about those policies.
A St. Rose spokeswoman, Kate Grey, told the Las Vegas Sun the decision to end the contract with Emergency Medicine Physicians was a "business decision." The medical group declined to comment, according to the report.
The system is searching for a new medical group to staff its emergency departments.
