The merger between Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, the physician group of Chicago-based Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and Northwestern Memorial HealthCare has moved forward as members of the faculty foundation voted in favor of the merger, according to a Crain's Chicago Business report.
The two groups signed a letter of intent to integrate in March. If the agreement closes as expected Sept. 1, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation and Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group, the physician group of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, would form a new organization: Northwestern Medicine.
According to Crain's Chicago Business, the faculty foundation group is Chicagoland's second-largest physician group, with 900 physicians. Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group has 122 physicians, according to the report.
