Chicago-based Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and its physician group, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation plan to integrate with Northwestern Memorial HealthCare and its physician group, Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group. Their integrated clinical operations will form a new organization, Northwestern Medicine.
The unified group will form a new "physician enterprise" that will allow for better care coordination, teaching and research, according to a news release.
The groups signed a letter of intent last week and are aiming to close the agreement Sept. 1.
