Marquette (Mich.) General Hospital has acquired Marquette-based Upper Michigan Cardiovascular Associates, a 12-physician group and the largest cardiology and vascular group practice in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
The acquisition comes as MGH pursues a clinical integration model and develops the Marquette General Heart and Vascular Institute. UMCA physicians and the group's 55 employees are now directly employed by the hospital.
"This type of clinical integration model unites and greatly strengthens the regional medical center's already comprehensive cardiovascular services," said Thomas Noren, MD, MGH's CMO, in the news release. "Bringing the UMCA physicians and staff into the MGH family of caregivers has been a goal for quite some time. Attaining that goal is a development from which UP patients will see many benefits."
