OB/GYN — 83 percent
Pediatrics — 71 percent
Family medicine — 55 percent
Psychiatry — 55 percent
Pathology — 54 percent
Internal medicine — 43 percent
Emergency medicine — 38 percent
Surgery — 38 percent
Internal medicine subspecialties — 37 percent
Anesthesiology — 37 percent
In general, the report found the proportion of medical school applicants who are women has continued to drop since it peaked at 51 percent in 2003-04. In 2013-14, 46 percent of medical school applicants were women and 46 percent of residents were women, as well.
