Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, N.Y., has reached a contract agreement with its nurses, represented by the New York State Nurses Association, according to a Staten Island North Shore report.
As part of the three-year contract, the hospital will give the nurses with an annual 2.5 percent pay increase. The nurses agreed to higher co-pays and health plan contributions in return. The contract also gives the nurses an RUMC pension as opposed to a pension through their union, which saved the hospital $1 million; the nurses were previously working without a pension.
RUMC, which has had some financial struggles, has been negotiating with the nurses over a contract for more than a year.
