Miami-based Jackson Health System plans to outsource its Medicaid and disability enrollment services for uninsured patients, which is expected to save the public health system $2.5 million and lead to the loss of 26 jobs, according to a Miami Herald report.
The health system will pay Atlanta-based Chamberlin Edmonds & Associates $37.5 million as part of a three-year contract to provide the enrollment services, according to the report.
The move is part of the health system's larger plan announced two weeks ago to cut 240 jobs and introduce furloughs to employees.
The health system lost nearly $10 million in October alone, according to the report.
