Marlton, N.J.-based Virtua, a four-hospital system with more than 1,800 physicians, and CVS Caremark's MinuteClinic, the largest provider of retail-based health clinics, have entered into a clinical collaboration agreement.
The agreement aims to enhance patient access to affordable healthcare in the region. Virtua physicians will serve as medical directors in five MinuteClinics in Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties. MinuteClinic and Virtua will also collaborate on patient education and disease management initiatives.
As part of the agreement, the two parties will work to achieve a fully integrated electronic medical record system so MinuteClinic can electronically share medical histories and visit summaries with Virtua locations.
