University of Michigan Health System Nurses Picket Over Contract

Nurses at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, Mich., picketed over ongoing labor negotiations, according to an ABC13 report.

The nurses, represented by the University of Michigan Professional Nurses and the Michigan Nurses Association, have been working without a contract since June. The nurses and the health system have been unable to agree on cost sharing for benefits and work hour flexibility. The nurses say UMHS wants to double the cost of benefits and reduce flexibility, according to the report.

Both sides are scheduled to meet with a mediator later this week.
