The non-negotiable perk for 3 in 10 CEOs

Companies across the U.S. recognize the importance of flexible hours to today's workforce. Now, a recent report highlights the importance of this perk among CEOs.

The report, released June 6 by organizational consulting firm Korn Ferry, is informed by a survey of 10,000 global employees.

Here are three findings:

1. Thirty-three percent of global CEOs cited flexible hours as a top driver in choosing a job.

2. Thirty-one percent of global CEOs cited flexible hours as a top driver in staying at a job.

3. Twenty-five percent of global CEOs cited inflexible hours as a top driver for leaving a job.

The topic of flexible hours has been prevalent in healthcare, particularly in nursing. For example, health systems have increasingly embraced four-day workweeks for nurse leaders to boost recruitment, retention and staff engagement.

For healthcare CEOs, the job demands a strategic approach to schedules to balance business needs and connections with team members. This means some may have hybrid schedules. CEOs are also leading by listening through initiatives such as shadowing and engaging with workers on the night shift.
