Tenet Revenues Up 3.1%, Net Income Doubles on Increased Admissions

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. has announced second quarter 2010 net operating revenue of $2.4 billion, up 3.1 percent from $2.3 billion in 2Q 2010.

The hospital operator attributed the increase for the quarter ended June 30, 2011, to a 1 percent growth in same-facility adjusted admissions and a 1.1 percent growth in surgeries. Net patient revenues per adjusted patient day increased by 2 percent due to favorable increase on commercial volumes. Case acuity remained unchanged compared to the previous quarter, according to a Tenet news release.

The company's net income attributable to the company's shareholders soared to $55 million, more than double net income of $25 million in the same period a year prior.
