Service employees at E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur, N.Y., have turned down a contract that contained no salary increase for three years and boosted family health coverage in the third year, according to a Watertown Daily Times report.
The hospital has insisted it does not have money for salary and wage increases, but the report said it has given raises to non-union employees. The union said it will continue to negotiate for raises, even if it means a one-time bonus to offset the health insurance increase.
The service employees' union is now disseminating a petition to allow a strike vote, the report said.
