Longview, Wash.-based PeaceHealth has eliminated at least 120 jobs from its operations in Lane County, Ore., within the past year, according to a Register-Guard report.
The positions were trimmed through early retirement offers, layoffs and relocating jobs to a new "shared services center" in Vancouver, Wash., that handles functions like accounting and technology, according to the report.
Last year, the health system told the newspaper it had 5,300 full-time-equivalent employees in Lane County. That figure has since decreased to 4,644. A PeaceHealth spokesperson said the elimination of 656 jobs is not accurate, since the organization has a different system for human resources and payroll than it did a year ago.
