The Western Connecticut Health Network based in Danbury has let 28 employees go, according to a News Times report.
The health system said the laid-off jobs are administrative positions at both of its hospitals — Danbury (Conn.) Hospital and New Milford (Conn.) Hospital.
The reduction represents less than 1 percent of WCHN's total employee base of more than 4,400 employees. WCHN officials said the layoffs were a result of the "shaky economy" and rapidly changing healthcare environment, according to the report.
