Nevada's legislature passed a bill Friday that would give all residents the option to buy into the state's Medicaid plan, according to Vox.
Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) has not vocalized whether or not he supports the bill. Because Medicaid pays physicians lower rates, the plan is regarded as more feasible than other universal Medicare proposals that have failed.
The option, called the Nevada Care Plan, would sell on the state's insurance marketplace and allow people to use ACA tax credit toward the plan or buy in with their own money if they do not qualify for credits.
The coverage would be the same as typical Medicaid options, but would not cover emergency medical transportation.
