Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Kentucky Lays Off 28 Employees

Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Ky., announced job cuts affecting 28 employees yesterday, according to a Murray Ledger report.

Hospital CEO Jerry Penner attributed the layoffs to declines in patient volume and Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement, according to the report.

The hospital also disbanded its geriatric behavioral health unit in November 2012, which left 25 people without jobs.

After the most recent round of layoffs, about 1,000 people will work at Murray-Calloway, according to the report.
