Madison, Wis.-based Meriter Health Services is cutting a total of 140 jobs, 50 of which involve employee layoffs, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.
The cuts, which affect less than 4 percent of Meriter's 3,500 employees, are expected to save the system about $9 million. Half of the laid-off employees are managers, some of whom are involved in patient care. Some are also members of unions, according to the report.
A Meriter spokesperson said the system will continue pay and benefits until the end of the year for those employees losing jobs, according to the report.
