Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, Ky., part of Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours Kentucky Health System, confirmed it will eliminate positions.
"We are examining all expenses and identifying efficiencies, processes and best practices to help serve our community and keep our ministry viable," a statement from the hospital says.
The hospital said positions would be eliminated, many of which are now vacant, but declined to reveal the type or number of jobs that will be eliminated.
Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital's workforce has more than 1,000 employees at the hospital and its affiliated practices and services.
Though some positions will be eliminated, the hospital is hiring in many patient care departments, the hospital said.
The hospital's plans to eliminate jobs comes nearly three months after Bon Secours Health System and Cincinnati-based Mercy Health finalized their merger Sept. 5.
