Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass., is expected to eliminate 24 jobs when it closes its inpatient transitional surgical rehabilitation unit, according to an Eagle Tribune report.
Chris Murphy, a spokesman with Holy Family — which is part of Boston-based Steward Health Care System — said the decision to close the unit was based on lowering the cost of providing services, according to the report. He declined to provide further details on the staffing changes.
The transitional unit provides rehabilitative care after certain surgeries, and patients typically stay between three to five days, hospital spokeswoman Anna Frankenfield said in the report.
