Children's Hospital of Oakland Workers Vote to Join National Union of Healthcare Workers

About 450 employees of Children's Hospital of Oakland (Calif.) voted to join the National Union of Healthcare Workers in California in a vote of 183 for NUHW to 135 for the Service Employees International Union based in Chicago.

The decision comes after three years of Children's Hospital workers petitioning the National Labor Relations Board for an election. Children's Hospital workers include housekeepers, certified nursing assistants, licensed vocational nurses and respiratory care practitioners.
