Minnesota Hospitals, SEIU Find Middle Ground to Avoid Strikes

Potential strikes at Minnesota hospitals have been averted, as members of Service Employees International Union Healthcare Minnesota and hospitals reached a tentative agreement on contract terms yesterday, according to a Pioneer Press report.

Details of the tentative agreement will not be disclosed until unionized workers vote on the contract terms. Voting has been scheduled for next week, according to the report.

SEIU Healthcare Minnesota workers include nursing assistants, emergency department technicians, maintenance workers and food service personnel from the following hospitals:

• Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina
• Fairview Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis
• Children's Hospitals in Minneapolis and St. Paul
• Health East's Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul
• St. John's Hospital in Maplewood
• North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale
• Park Nicollet/Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park
