Calais Regional Hospital in Maine Eliminates 13 Positions, Enacts Pay Freeze

Calais (Maine) Regional Hospital has eliminated 13 positions this week and is also implementing a freeze on salary increases, according to a Bangor Daily News report.

The 25-bed hospital cites decreased patient volume, reduced reimbursement and the recent closure of the city's only nursing home as factors in its $1 million loss this calendar year.

The austerity measures will affect everyone on staff, according to the report, including executives.
