The Mendocino Coast District Hospital board of directors voted to end the contract of hospital CEO Bob Edwards Jan. 24, despite opting to renew his contract last year, according to the Fort Bragg Advocate News.
Board Chair Karen Arnolds announced the board's 3-1 decision to end Mr. Edwards' contract.
The terms of Mr. Edward's severance were not available.
The vote comes after the previous board, of which only one member remains, voted in May 2018 to extend Mr. Edwards' contract until April 2022. Mr. Edwards was appointed CEO of the hospital in April 2015. During his tenure, the hospital saw a $2.1 million surplus in 2016, but experienced multimillion-dollar losses in 2017 and 2018, the report states.
The leadership change comes as the hospital faces allegations of misreported finances and claims of workplace harassment by employees against the hospital's former CFO, who resigned in November 2017.
Ms. Arnolds said Jan. 24 that hospital CFO Mike Ellis will take over as CEO while the board finds a permanent replacement.
