Many employees have a cynical view of their boss, which makes leading them a difficult task, according to strategy + business.
Here are three tips on how leaders can more effectively manage cynics.
1. Be honest. Lying to cynics will only reinforce their negative assumptions about their leaders. Instead, honesty will demonstrate a leader's vulnerability and integrity.
2. Be fair. Workplace cynics expect inequality and unfairness at every turn, so leaders should be especially conscious about how fair their actions are.
3. Follow talk with action. If people believe a leader won't follow their rhetoric with actions, they will not trust that leader. Do what you say and say what you do.
