Dr. Peter Carmel to Serve as Next AMA President

Peter Carmel, MD, a pediatric neurosurgeon practicing in Newark, N.J., has been appointed president of the American Medical Association, according to an AMA news release.

Dr. Carmel has served on the AMA Board of Trustees since 2002. He has also served as Chair of the Council on Long Range Planning and Development from 2006-2007 and as president of the AMA Foundation. Dr. Carmel is currently on the Foundation Board.
