University Medical Center in Lafayette, La., part of Baton Rouge-based Louisiana State University Health Care Services Division, has opened its new $90,000 cardiology wing, according to a KLFY report.
The hospital saved hundreds of thousands of dollars on the renovation because the hospital's maintenance department did the majority of the work, according to the report.
The opening of the new wing comes in the midst of financial challenges at LSU Health Care Services Division, including the closure of some services at its Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center in Independence, La.
