Study: PET Imaging Can Detect Acute Endocarditis

PET imaging can detect the pathogen that causes acute endocarditis, according to a study published in Nature Medicine.

Researchers found that, with an engineered analog of prothrombin, they could identify Staphylococcus aureus, which causes the heart valve infection, in endocarditic vegetations by using PET imaging.
