MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando (Fla.) announced the ground breaking of its new proton therapy center.
The Proton Therapy Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando will treat cancers of the brain, spine, lung and prostate as well as pediatric cancers, according to the release.
The 15,000-square-foot facility will be located between Orlando (Fla.) Regional Medical Center and MD Anderson-Orlando. MD Anderson-Orlando plans to open the new center in early 2014 and expects to treat more than 30 patients a day with the proton accelerator.
