San Diego-based Scripps Health announced the opening of its new $43.9 million radiation therapy center.
The 45,420-square-foot Scripps Radiation Therapy Center consolidates Scripps' two existing radiation oncology centers at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla (Calif.) and Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, according to the release. The Scripps La Jolla radiation oncology program was relocated to the new location late last month, and Scripps Green's program will be fully relocated to the new center by late November.
The facility houses three new linear accelerators, a CT simulator, a patient education resource library and clinical research space. The center has room to add two more linear accelerators, and will offer clinical trials in addition to radiation therapies.
Scripps plans to open a new $220 million proton therapy center in the summer of 2013.
