Going against national trends of cardiac rehab, the JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Fla., closed its cardiac rehabilitation center, citing a lack of money as the main cause, according to a Palm Beach Post report.
The report said it was the fourth Palm Beach County hospital to cut that type of cardiology program in the past six years.
Randal Thomas, MD, said in the article more cardiac rehab centers have actually opened than closed in the past several years, and reimbursements have also increased from $25 to $70. However, an average cardiac rehab session can cost around $100, the report said.
