Study Lists Best and Worst States for Healthcare Quality, Satisfaction

Recent studies by CareChex, a division of The Delta Group specializing in rating the quality of hospital and physician care, reveals broad disparities in healthcare quality among states and surprisingly found no correlations between quality of care and patient satisfaction, according to a CareChex news release.

Ohio, for example, ranked No. 1 in overall quality of care but No. 34 for patient satisfaction. Connecticut ranked No. 5 in quality but No. 37 for satisfaction.

The studies examined the quality of medical care and patient satisfaction for medical care by U.S. geographic area using three years of data from CMS's Center for Medicare and Medicaid Studies' Medicare Provider Assessment and Review file as well as HHS' Hospital Compare database.
