Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America employees have reached an agreement with HCA officials after the employees' union canceled a one-day strike last week at HCA facilities in California, according to a San Fernando Business Journal report.
The strike, which was set to occur at all five California-based HCA hospitals, was canceled after the union, Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers West, and HCA officials agreed to begin re-negotiations. A tentative agreement between the employee union and officials guarantees raises of 2 percent every four years, protects employer-paid healthcare and allows for career advancement and reimbursement.
A federal mediator helped the two parties negotiate. SEIU-UHWW represents HCA employees including vocational nurses, certified nursing assistants and radiology technicians.
