Denver's Saint Joseph Hospital May Create 1,400 Jobs Through Redevelopment Plan

A redevelopment project by Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver may create 1,400 construction-related jobs annually and $340 million in labor compensation from now until the project's planned completion in 2014, according to a hospital news release.

An economic impact study estimated the Saint Joseph Heritage Project would also generate $13.6 million annually to Denver and $8 million annually to Colorado in use taxes. Saint Joseph currently contributes approximately $2.8 million in annual sales tax revenue to Denver and $1.7 million to the state of Colorado. The hospital also currently provides $177 million in annual labor compensation.

Saint Joseph plans to invest a total of $700 million in the redevelopment project, which will include a new 348-bed hospital.
