VCU hospital president heads to Memorial Hermann

Michael Roussos is stepping down as president of the 820-bed VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Va., to join the executive team at Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston.

Mr. Roussos' departure will be effective on August 14 after nearly three years with VCU Medical Center. At Memorial Hermann, Mr. Roussos will serve as senior vice president, president of academic hospitals, and CEO of the system's flagship Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center Campus.

This move marks Mr. Roussos' return to Texas, where he previously served as the lead administrator for University Hospital in San Antonio and as CEO of Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.

"As he returns home to Texas, Mike unquestionably leaves our health system in a stronger place as a direct result of his stewardship and collaborative leadership style," Marlon Levy, MD, interim CEO of VCU Health and interim vice president of VCU Health Sciences, said in the system's news release, which did not specify a succession plan for Mr. Roussos.
