Madison, Wis.-based UW Health has named Alan Kaplan, MD, CEO.
Here are six things to know about Dr. Kaplan.
1. Dr. Kaplan is currently executive vice president and chief clinical transformation officer of UnityPoint Health in West Des Moines, Iowa.
2. Dr. Kaplan, who is board-certified in emergency medicine, is also the founder and president and CEO of UnityPoint Clinic, a physician-led nonprofit corporation comprised of 1,300 providers.
3. Additionally, he is president and CEO of UnityPoint at Home, a provider of home care, palliative, hospice and home infusion services.
4. Prior to joining UnityPoint Health in 2009, he was vice president and CMO of Naperville, Ill.-based Edward Health Services Corp.
5. Dr. Kaplan earned his medical degree from Rush University in Chicago, as well as a master's degree in medical management from Pittsburgh-based Carnegie Mellon University.
6. He succeeds Jeffrey Grossman, MD, who has served as interim CEO since July. Dr. Kaplan is expected to start in early May.
