The Medical Center of Aurora appoints Dr. Philip Stahel CMO

The Medical Center of Aurora (Colo.) has named Philip Stahel, MD, CMO of the medical center and Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital, effective Feb. 16.

Dr. Stahel comes to the role from Thornton, Colo.-based North Suburban Medical Center, where he has served as CMO since 2017.

Previously, he was an orthopedic trauma surgeon at Denver Health and taught orthopedics and neurosurgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora.

Dr. Stahel also was regional chair for the Patient Safety Movement Foundation, a California-based nonprofit organization established through the support of the Masimo Foundation for Ethics, Innovation, and Competition in Healthcare.

The Medical Center of Aurora, a 346-bed acute care hospital, is part of HCA Healthcare's HealthOne network of hospitals. It comprises six campuses, including Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital.
