Sally Border has been named interim CFO of Bamberg County (S.C.) Hospital, according to a Times and Democrat report.
Ms. Border's appointment comes just a few months after John Hales was named administrator of the hospital. Bamberg County Hospital's financial struggles led the hospital to enter a merger agreement in September. Under that agreement, Bamberg County and Barnwell (S.C.) County Hospital will merge into a regional health system and Dobbs Equity Partners will acquire both hospitals. The two counties are currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings to reorganize debt.
Earlier this week, Bamberg County Hospital reported to the county council that the hospital's "disciplined expense management" has allowed the facility to keep its doors open.
